Is it safe to send my DNI by WhatsApp or email?
Only if the copy is protected. A clean photo of your ID lets someone impersonate you if it leaks. Ofuska covers the unneeded data, stamps the copy with the recipient and the date, and adds an invisible signature so you can trace it.
Does Ofuska upload my documents to a server?
No. Everything happens on your phone: the encryption, the redaction and the marks. There is no Ofuska server. The optional backup goes to your own Google Drive, encrypted with your PIN — neither Google nor we can read it.
What happens if I forget my PIN?
Your documents are encrypted with a key derived from your PIN: without it they can't be recovered — not even by us. If you have a Drive backup, reinstall and restore it with the PIN you created it with.
Which parts of my ID should I cover?
Whatever the process doesn't need: usually the signature, the card number, the date of birth or the MRZ (the lines on the back). Ofuska includes a per-procedure guide based on police and privacy-authority advice.
How do I find out who leaked my copy?
Every copy carries an invisible signature with the recipient and the date. If a copy shows up where it shouldn't, import it into "Verify copy" and Ofuska tells you who you sent it to.
Does the invisible mark survive if the image is forwarded?
It survives as long as the image isn't recompressed (saving, forwarding as a file). If a platform recompresses it with loss (e.g. WhatsApp as a "photo"), the signature can be destroyed; the visible mosaic still gives the recipient away.
How much does it cost?
Ofuska is free with generous limits. Pro is a one-time payment of €4.99 — no subscriptions — and unlocks automatic templates, unlimited documents and masks, full history and copies without the app's band.
Which languages is it available in?
Spanish, English, Catalan, Galician and Basque. You can set the language in Settings regardless of your system language.
Is it available for iPhone?
Android comes first; the iOS version is planned. Leave your email and we'll let you know.
Why does it ask me to create a PIN at the start?
The PIN isn't just a lock screen: the key that encrypts your documents is derived from it. That's why nobody — not even Ofuska — can access them.
Does Ofuska work with documents from other countries?
Yes. You can store and redact any ID document: passports and driver's licenses work the same everywhere, and it makes no difference whether yours is called Cartão de Cidadão (Portugal), Personalausweis (Germany or Austria), carte d’identité (France), carta d’identità (Italy), cédula de identidad or de ciudadanía (Chile, Colombia, Uruguay and much of Latin America), INE card (Mexico) or driver's license (US). The quick zones cover the DNI, passports and licenses; for the rest you have the brush, rectangles and pixelation.
Can I protect my health card too?
Yes. Your health card is stored encrypted like any other document, and you can cover the Social Security number — the most sensitive piece of data — before sending it to a school, a summer camp, a gym or an insurer.
